PRF Under Eyes: What to Expect, Step by Step

You are looking at your calendar, trying to work out where a few days of swelling could fit. PRF under eyes is a short appointment with a slow payoff: the treatment usually takes under an hour, swelling and bruising are common for a few days, and results build over weeks rather than days.

This guide takes it in the order you will live it, from the first conversation to the weeks afterward. It also explains how pricing works when there isn’t a single number to quote, because that is the part people ask about most and find hardest to get a straight answer on.

Before You Book PRF Under Eyes: The Consultation

Every PRF under eyes treatment at Oro Valley Aesthetics begins with a conversation, not a needle. Your provider looks at your skin, talks through what bothers you under your eyes, and reviews your health history. Together you decide if PRF, or a combination approach, is the right fit.

Bring a list of everything you take, including medications and supplements. Tell your provider about all of them, and follow their instructions on anything to do before or after treatment. Specific instructions come from your provider, not from a general guide like this one.

By the end of the consultation you should know how many treatments are planned, how far apart they are, what the quote covers and what recovery to plan for. If any of that is unclear, ask before you book. A few questions are worth bringing too:

  • Is PRF the right starting point for my concern, or would you suggest something else?
  • How many treatments do you recommend, and how far apart?
  • Does the quote cover one treatment or the whole series?
  • What should I plan for in the first week?
  • What happens if I don’t see the change I hoped for?

How We Quote PRF Under Eyes

We don’t publish a single price for PRF under the eyes, and the reason is practical. The total depends on the number of treatments your provider recommends and on any other treatments planned with it, such as Morpheus8® or neuromodulators. Your provider quotes it after your consultation, once the plan exists.

When you get a quote from any practice, ask if it covers one treatment or the full series. A plan of two to three treatments costs more than one treatment, so two quotes can look far apart when they describe different amounts of care.

There are a few documented details on the consultation itself. A $50 deposit applies. If you book your next appointment on the same day, the deposit can go toward that service. If you don’t, the $50 covers the consultation fee.

You can read the full terms on our policies page, and our payment plans page explains how to spread the cost of a treatment series.

Fitting It Around Your Calendar

Swelling and bruising are common for a few days, so it helps to book an appointment before a stretch of quiet days rather than before a photo, a trip or an event.

If you have a date in mind, tell your provider at the consultation so the plan can account for it. We can’t promise a particular look by a particular date, because PRF results build gradually.

Plan for the series as well. Two to three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart means the appointments themselves take up a couple of months, and results continue to develop after the last one.

The Day of Your PRF Under Eyes Appointment

Most appointments run under an hour, and the order is the same each time.

The Blood Draw

The appointment opens with a small blood draw, the kind you’d have for routine bloodwork. It is over in a few minutes.

Processing the Sample

Your blood goes into a centrifuge, which spins it and separates the platelet-rich fibrin from the rest. What comes out is a concentrated, gel-like material. For the full picture of what PRF is and who it may suit, see our PRF under eye treatment page.

Numbing and Placement

Numbing cream goes on the treatment area before anything is placed. Your provider then uses a fine needle or cannula to place the PRF. Sensation differs between people, and some describe it as a series of quick pinches. Tell your provider how you’re feeling as you go.

Days 1 to 5 After PRF Under Eyes

Expect some swelling and bruising under the eyes in the first few days. Both typically resolve within three to five days, and tiny pinpoint marks may show at the injection sites.

We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise and direct sun for 24 to 48 hours afterward. Makeup can usually be applied after 24 hours, once any pinpoint marks from the injections have closed. If your provider gives you different instructions, follow theirs.

Weeks 1 to 12: When PRF Under Eyes Results Show

PRF is designed to support your skin’s own collagen, and that takes time. Here is the timeline we typically describe, and individual results vary. Evidence for platelet treatments in facial rejuvenation is still developing, and a Practical Dermatology review calls for more controlled trials, so read any timeline as a typical pattern and not a promise.

  • 1 to 2 weeks: Initial swelling subsides, and early brightening may appear.
  • 4 to 6 weeks: Collagen production increases, and texture and tone begin to improve.
  • 8 to 12 weeks: Full results are typically visible, with continued improvement as new collagen matures.

Most plans start with a series of two to three treatments spaced four to six weeks apart. Maintenance treatments are usually discussed every six to twelve months, and your provider sets the schedule that fits you.

Some people see less change than they hoped for, and no outcome is guaranteed. That is a good reason to ask, before you start, what the plan is if your results fall short.

Risks and What to Watch For After PRF Under Eyes

PRF is minimally invasive, and it still carries real risks. Redness, tenderness, swelling and bruising are the effects to expect. Other risks are infection, bleeding, uneven results and an adverse reaction.

Some signs should not wait. Vision changes, severe pain, or swelling that keeps getting worse after the first few days all call for a phone call to us at 520.999.2627, and an emergency calls for 911. Injections around the eyes can cause serious complications, including changes in vision, which is why risks are reviewed with you before anything is placed.

Some people are advised to wait or to consider other options, including people with active skin infections or certain blood disorders and people who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Your consultation confirms if PRF is appropriate given your health history.

When We Might Suggest Something Else

PRF is typically discussed for mild to moderate hollowing, dark circles and crepey texture under the eyes. If your hollowing is deeper than that, or you want a visible change right away, your provider may talk with you about other options, such as dermal fillers. Filler adds volume directly, while PRF works gradually.

Questions About PRF Under Eyes

What is PRF under eyes?

PRF, short for platelet-rich fibrin, is a gel-like preparation made from your own blood. It is placed under the eyes to support collagen over time instead of adding volume right away, and our PRF under eye treatment page explains it in full.

Will I see results right after PRF under my eyes?

No. PRF is designed to support collagen over time, so improvement builds across weeks. Early brightening may appear at one to two weeks, once initial swelling subsides, and full results are typically visible within 8 to 12 weeks.

How long does swelling last after PRF under the eyes?

Swelling and occasional bruising typically resolve within three to five days. Tell your provider if swelling is getting worse instead of better.

When can I wear makeup or exercise after PRF under my eyes?

Makeup can usually be applied after 24 hours, once any pinpoint marks from the injections have closed. We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise and direct sun for 24 to 48 hours.

Do I need to do anything before my appointment?

Tell your provider about all medications and supplements, and follow their instructions. Any specific preparation comes from your provider after your consultation.
